The Ceramic Side

The clay is from Lafuna Clay Company, the best clay in town and the nicest people.
Stoneware, high fire, (cone 10) WSO. This has to be the most elastic, most forgiving clay on this planet. Paper clay, clay with nylon, none of these compare to WSO by Laguna Clay Company and they are not paying me to tell you this.
The translucency I create is from FRIT, homemade in the most part, but Bullseye glass sells every color I have ever dreamt of in three grades of ground Frit, or Glass.
I also use Laguna Clay Company high fire glazes and cone 5 also for really big pieces of tile. Like some of my tiles weighed fifty pounds and went to cone 5. amazing. See the fishermen's  Memorial.

The Human Side or Psychological basis for the Project

The psychological side of this four year project with no monetary stipend.........is quite simple, it was an act of atonement and gratitude. The gratitude is in reference to the Bounty and amazing Beauty of Nature, and the Atonement is for my taking that "Beauty and Bounty" for granted. This life of mine has been good and I am so Grateful; Therefore, as long as I live I will continue to give gratitude for all the good experiences I have enjoyed and the wonderful people I have met. My thanks comes in the form of ART, ceramic, words, drawings, paintings, and more.............This enormous ceramic installation at the Ventura Harbor Village, just sixty miles North of Los Angeles in Southern California, is one human being's muffled echo back at that almighty AUM that is the voice of this planet as "IT" hurtles through the cosmos.
